Reminder: New Rebates Started April 1, 2010

Pull The Plug appliance recycling program will provide REC members an opportunity to recycle operable old refrigerators, freezers and window air conditioners. You will receive an incentive payment for these appliances, and better yet you will be saving on your utility bill by not having the old inefficient appliances around consuming valuable energy anymore. In order to participate, REC members must contact the REC and request collection of certain operable appliances. The REC will verify that the caller is a member and that the appliances to be collected do operate. After the information is collected by the REC, that information will be electronically mailed to ESI (the recycling company). The appliances must be outside the REC member’s house as the recycling company will not go in the members house.

Ice Storm - Posted December 28, 2009

Farmers Electric would like the public to be aware of numerous very low power lines. Due to the ice storm we experienced over the Christmas holiday. The power lines are covered with ice and this condition will continue until the temperature raises enough to melt the ice from the power lines. These lines are energized stay away from them and report any low power lines to Farmers Electric Cooperative at 800-397-4821 or 641-743-6146.
